Welcome to Away We Grow Family Child Care!

As the primary care provider, I believe in nurturing children so they feel safe, secure and happy in our home away from home. We also concentrate on healthy eating, safety and child development so that children thrive not just survive during the time away from their parent(s).

I completed the Family Child Care course at Vancouver Community College (VCC) in November 2009 to become a certified child care provider. I also completed the St. John’s Ambulance First Aid course in November 2009. Although babysitting was my first job which I ended up doing for many years, it was becoming a parent that really sparked my interest in child development and where I discovered the wonder and enjoyment of children. Over the past 3 ½ years since becoming a parent, I have observed and learned a lot about children and their inherently curious nature.

Prior to becoming a parent, I spent many years in the hospitality industry after completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. During my working years, I took time out to backpack through Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and the UK as well as complete a diploma in theatre from the TooBa Physical Theatre Company.
